Organising life

November 12, 2012

It’s no secret that I love to plan, make lists and generally be super organised. When I was growing up, all arrangements were made on the home phone, then by mobile and slowly all invites to any social occasion now seem to be sent through Facebook. Despite owning a Blackberry I have never used it to send out invitations to or set reminders for meetings, birthdays or social occasions, I much prefer writing everything down in my diary. That was until I read this feature in the Emerald Street newsletter which has a list of clever new websites and apps that make planning super easy.

BEST FOR ORGANISING BIG STUFF
Planning something big like a hen do or birthday party? You need Remember The Milk. It’s essentially an online to-do list where you can manage tasks in one place rather than scrawling on scraps of paper which you end up losing. This site allows you to prioritise, postpone tasks and set yourself deadlines.

BEST FOR FACE-TO-FACE PLANNING
Sometimes it’s nicer (and quicker) to make plans face to face – no waiting around for weeks for that one person who always takes ages to reply. With Google+ Hangouts you can video chat with up to nine people at the same time.

BEST FOR THE PRACTICALITIES
Hailo is a great cab-calling app which puts paid to hanging around in the cold in your peep-toes, Wobbly Wallet is an iPhone app (London only), which shows a map of pubs still open near your current location while Songkick looks at your Spotify or iTunes account, figures our your favourite bands and tells you when they’re playing.
